In 1968, at age 26, Arun Shimpi came to the United States from Bombay (now Mumbai) and landed a job in NIB’s pricing and costing department. In his 43 years with the organization, he held several titles, most recently Vice President, Strategic Business Issues, before retiring in 2011. At NIB, Shimpi established a system to analyze employment growth, created a business planning department and authored white papers on various legislative issues. Following his retirement, Shimpi received the Robert B. Irwin Award, NIB’s highest honor for those who champion employment of people who are blind.
