Michael N. Gilliam
Michael N. Gilliam is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind (SALB). The SALB manufactures office and janitorial supplies, military helmet chin straps and textile apparel, and aerospace insulation blankets and floorboards for Boeing’s KC135 airplanes. SALB is ISO9001 and AS9100 certified and operates 14 base supply centers on 11 military installations located in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. The SALB Rehabilitation Center provides vocational training, technology training and independent living rehabilitation services to increase independence of individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
Earlier, Mr. Gilliam was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone/SBC/AT&T for 31 years, during which he served as Senior Vice President-Regulatory, Vice President in charge of SBC’s Year 2000 Project worldwide and President-Arkansas and Oklahoma Operations. He began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone as an installer in 1971. Mr. Gilliam progressed through various network operations, engineering and planning assignments before accepting a position at Bell Labs in New Jersey. He has had responsibilities for SBC’s cable television operations in London, England, Maryland and Virginia, as well as corporate technology strategies and new product development.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a degree in civil engineering, Mr. Gilliam completed the Advanced Executive Development Program at Cornell University.
