
Effective Supervision: The Essentials
Effective Supervision is the fifth and newest track of NIB’s Business Leaders Program. This new learning opportunity is designed to develop participants’ abilities to perform supervisory jobs with greater productivity and effectiveness and to prepare for ever-increasing levels of responsibility. Supervisors are an essential part of any organization – they oversee, direct and motivate employees to perform their best work on a day-to-day basis. They keep business operations running smoothly to meet customer needs and management requirements.
Eligibility
If you are a high-potential employee of NIB and NIB associated agencies who is blind and meets the following eligibility criteria, you are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Already performing in a supervisory position with direct reports
- Demonstrated supervision and leadership capacity
- Having career goals aligned with supervision and leadership in business
- Proficiency in computer technology and use of software
- Mastery of any necessary adaptive software and equipment
- High School diploma; additional academic background preferred

Effective Supervision is a challenging program facilitated by Management Concepts, a provider of instructor-led training for over 35 years. The curriculum, designed according to NIB’s specifications, is taught by instructors with subject matter expertise. The program also includes a session on performance coaching for participants’ managers. The manager will support the success of the participant and will be significant in the ability of the participant to apply what he/she has learned at the home agency.
