Christopher Burke is executive director and chief executive officer of the Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany (NABA), where he is responsible for overall agency management, leadership, and vision. In addition, he is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Northeastern Association of the Blind Foundation.
Burke has more than 20 years of nonprofit management experience, including as assistant executive director at NABA and as director of business development for the American Red Cross in New York State. He has also worked for the United States Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. and the Ways and Means Committee of the New York State Assembly, and served as a member of the Albany County legislature.
Burke holds a master’s degree in public policy and a master’s degree in business and policy studies with a concentration in nonprofit commercialization. He has expertise in organizational management, business development, and social entrepreneurism. Burke served as president of the board of directors of Senior Services of Albany and serves on the Albany Round Table. He is a member of the board of directors of Empire State Employment Resources for the Blind, organizational board chair of the Blind Employment Network of New York, and a member of the Disability Advisory Committee of the Capital District Transportation Authority, New York State Vision Rehabilitation Association, and the Albany and Troy Lions Club.
Burke received the Capital District Business Review’s 40 under 40 Award in 2005, the American Red Cross Dedicated Service Award in 2003, the Hudson/Park Neighborhood Association Blue Moon Award in 2004, and the Lark Street Business Improvement District Champagne on the Park Award in 2006.
