National Industries for the Blind to Honor Employees Who Are Blind at National Symposium

June event will recognize outstanding work ethic and career achievements of people who are blind

May 23, 2017, ALEXANDRIA, VA — National Industries for the Blind (NIB), the nation’s largest employment resource for people who are blind, and the National Association for the Employment of People who are Blind (NAEPB) will honor 79 individuals who are blind at the NIB/NAEPB National Symposium, June 26-28, 2017, in Arlington, Virginia.

Forty-eight employees who are blind working at NIB associated agencies are nominated for national Peter J. Salmon Employee of the Year award, which recognizes outstanding work ethic and achievements. The 31 nominees for the national Milton J. Samuelson Career Achievement Award come from NIB associated agencies and the private sector.

“The Salmon and Samuelson Awards recognize the talent and commitment of these outstanding individuals who are the heart of our program,” said NIB President and CEO Kevin Lynch. “We are delighted to host them at this year’s National Symposium.”

Employees at NIB associated agencies produce thousands of SKILCRAFT® products such as office supplies, cleaning supplies, hardware and paints, and a wide range of products to equip the U.S. military, including uniforms, bedding, and protective equipment. They also deliver a wide range of professional services such as contact center operations, contract management support, supply chain management, administrative support, Section 508 assurance, and information assurance.
