Jeffrey Mittman is the chief executive officer of Bosma Enterprises in Indianapolis. As Indiana’s largest employer and only comprehensive service provider for people experiencing vision loss, Bosma employs 200 full-time employees who provide disposable medical products to Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers and serve as suppliers to the state of Indiana through Ability Indiana. In addition, approximately 800 clients annually participate in Bosma’s rehabilitation and training programs.

Prior to joining Bosma, Mittman was executive officer and deputy director of operations at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), where he served as project manager for the agency’s deputy director and chief of staff. At DFAS Mittman functioned as liaison between an operations employee base of 10,000 and other divisions, coordinated staff functions, and led a congressional proposal process for the division.

A U.S. Army veteran, Mittman was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. He sustained critical injuries in Iraq that included the loss of his eyesight. Today, Mittman uses his experiences to develop motivational presentations on trauma recovery, veterans’ affairs, and politics.

Mittman holds a Master of Business Administration in operations management and a Master of Arts degree in executive development for public service from Ball State University, as well as a bachelor of applied science in resource management from Troy University. He was recognized as the distinguished honor graduate or honor graduate at four separate military leadership schools he attended, was a 2015 inductee in the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame, and received the Department of Defense Outstanding Employee with a Disability Award in 2013.

In addition, Mittman has received the American Foundation for the Blind Gallagher Award, the AbilityOne Osborne Day Award, and Lighthouse International’s Henry Grunwald Award for Public Service.
